Upcoming Events

The Wichita area has many concerts and events going on each month that can help students experience music outside the classroom.  Public concerts, scholarship auditions, and clinics can help students grow into better musicians.  Here is a short list of some of these activities.  If you have any other events that we could list, please feel free to contact us.  

November 6	Wichita Public Schools - Madrigal Invitational 7:00 p.m. at Wichita Southeast High School.  The production is open to the public.
November 14 & 15	Wichita State University Senior and Transfer Student Music Scholarship Auditions High school seniors and transfer students can audition for WSU faculty for scholarships for the next school year.  There are scholarships available for music majors and non-majors.  Click here to go to the WSU Bands web site for more information.
December 2	Wichita State University Concert Band Concert with Jazz Arts II Graduate Conducting Assistants April Ballard, Lori Ashenfelter, and Tyler Ives along with Direcor Dr. Victor Markovich lead the Concert Band.  Jazz Arts II, led by Graduate Conducting Assistant Troy Fischer will also be playing some great music.  The concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Miller Concert Hall in Duerksen Fine Arts Center at WSU.
December 3	Wichita State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble Director Dr. Victor Markovich conducts this ensemble as they present some interesting new repertoire for both large and small ensembles.  The concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Miller Concert Hall in Duerksen Fine Arts Center at WSU.
December 13 & 17	Wichita State University All-State Clinics Students that make KMEA District Bands have a chance to audition for KMEA All-State Band.  At the WSU All-State Clinics have a chance to work with the WSU faculty to prepare for these auditions.  Click here to go to the WSU Bands web site for more information.
January 13, 2009	Wichita Public Schools - Women's Choral Invitational 7:00 p.m. at Wichita East High School.  The event is open to the public.
Februay 2	Wichita Public Schools - All-City Band Concert The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Century II Concert Hall.  The event is free and open to the public.
February 3	Wichita Public Schools - All-City Orchestra Concert The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Century II Concert Hall.  The event is free and open to the public.
February 24	Wichita Public Schools - All-City Choir Concert The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Century II Concert Hall.  The event is free and open to the public.
Aprill 21	Wichita Public Schools - Jazz-in-the-Round This event begins at 7:00 p.m. at Wichita Northwest High School.  The event is free and open to the public.
